Aqua Beat Abyss - Underwater Environment

Focused on creating vibrant and immersive environment art for underwater scenes. I excelled in modeling detailed assets like coral formations, rock formations, and aquatic flora, which enriched the underwater world.

This project enhanced my skills in organic modeling, optimizing assets for performance, and ensuring that the environments contributed to the gameplay experience while maintaining visual appeal.

I overcame the challenge of underwater fog by studying Subnautica and Abzû, adjusting fog density and lighting to enhance immersion without obscuring details. Testing helped me find the right balance.

I overcame the challenge of texturing moss in the environment by using the Cloner tool to create a procedural foliage growth effect. This allowed me to apply moss dynamically to any static mesh, ensuring natural and realistic coverage across surfaces.

By using real-life references for ocean rocks, coral, and seaweed, I ensured accurate colors and textures that reflect their natural habitats. This approach helps distinguish what the player is observing while accurately representing familiar coral.
